It is with great honor and pleasure that we address you on behalf of the Department of Tourism Management at the Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences, operating under the umbrella of Balıkesir University. We continue our education and training activities with the awareness that tourism is not only an economic activity but also a multifaceted field that strengthens intercultural interaction, contributes to sustainable development, and supports social welfare.
Since its establishment, our department has adopted a teaching model based on a student-centered approach to education, aiming to be innovative and responsive to industry expectations in line with the requirements of the age. Our goal is not only to train individuals with professional knowledge, but also to equip them with the skills to think critically, adhere to ethical values, have a high sense of social responsibility, and compete on a global scale. In this regard, the experience of our academic staff and the strong partnerships we have established with the industry provide our students with a significant advantage.
The educational approach of our Tourism Management Department integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application. Our students receive comprehensive training in areas such as management, marketing, finance, human resources, communication and cultural relations, and sustainable tourism, all aligned with digital transformation. In addition, through internship programs, technical tours, seminars, and practical courses conducted in close collaboration with the industry, they gain professional experience while still students. This process contributes to our graduates adapting to the business world more quickly and effectively.
Our department's academic vision is based on an approach that encourages scientific research, aims to increase recognition at the national and international levels, and focuses on continuous development. Our academic staff closely follows current developments in their field and contributes to knowledge production through scientific publications, projects, and conferences. Our students, as part of this research culture, have the opportunity to support their academic development through project-based studies and scientific activities.

Since its establishment and commencement of education in 2009, our department has aimed to meet the tourism sector's need for qualified and competent workforce with up-to-date and innovative education methods in line with the dynamics of the tourism sector, while also training our students to become successful professionals in this field by combining academic knowledge with sectoral practices. To ensure our students grow into individuals with high ethical standards and social awareness, all stages of our educational activities are conducted based on these values.
In line with our internationalization vision, we are raising our education quality to global standards through collaborations with universities in different countries, student and academic exchange programs. Our students' exposure to different cultures, development of foreign language proficiency, and acquisition of international experience provide them with a significant advantage in their career journeys after graduation.
Furthermore, thanks to the strong relationships established with industry representatives, our students have the opportunity to observe current practices firsthand, communicate directly with professionals, and plan their careers more consciously.
